In those infected with HIV-1 and HIV-2, the latent reservoir is a major roadblock in the search for a cure. While the nature of the HIV-1 reservoir continues to be investigated, the HIV-2 reservoir has only been recently probed. In this project we characterize the HIV-2 proviral landscape and explore HIV-2 reactivation using latency reversal agents that have been studied in HIV-1 infection. The goal of this project is to identify the mechanisms that may be responsible for HIV-2 latency reversal blocks.

This project is currently recruiting for a qualified postdoctoral candidate.
